Salutations Tribe,
How rapidly our world has changed in 2020. We began the year beset by plague and quarantined. In March, COVID-19 hit my house like we stole from it. I couldn't rightfully call myself a healer if I could not heal myself. We were blessed to have an abundance of herbal and indigenous medicine to pull us through. The Omenai Dynasty is well and thriving. Politically, the weeks since have been an uncapped geyser of shenanigans and foolery. We are fighting for the soul of this country. I know the days and weeks ahead may feel uncertain but I wanted to remind of who we are and how much we have overcome. There are lots of possibilities and we are equipped to handle them all. Do not be overcome by darkness.
Stop watching the trauma porn and violence against black bodies on a loop. Take breaks from social media often. Recognize that rest is revolutionary. Get some. Create a self-care plan and choose someone to hold you accountable. Please take care of your mind, body, and spirit. We need you. History is in the making. One day, many years from now, you will be asked for your account of this year and all its perils and progress.
In that spirit, I am documenting the world around me starting with my weapon of choice poetry. I will post one poem every day, indefinitely. I challenge you to pick up your pen and capture the world transforming around us. Write your own prose, poems, articles, or commentary. Feel free to share them in the comments. Once a week on Sundays I will send out a writing prompt for you to participate in. On the 2nd Friday of every month, beginning July 10, 2020, 6 pm MST, I will host a virtual open mic where we can share our writing and connect with our Tribe at large. Join us.
May you all be safe, sheltered, and supplied. There are more with us than the natural eye can see. Power to the People.
Yours,
Confidence Omenai
